Dubai International Airport (DXB) recorded its busiest quarter ever at the start of the year, with 23 million guests passing through its terminals, an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to the same period last year.
In a statement on Tuesday, Dubai Airports said total passenger numbers for the quarter reached 23,052,060 guests, with January recording the highest traffic - 7.9 million.
"Thanks in part to our home carriers Emirates and flydubai expanding our network to additional cities in recent months
"As Dubai becomes a global leader in attracting talent, businesses and tourists from around the world, we remain focused on maintaining our growth momentum and improving the overall airport experience for every guest who passes through our terminals.
"With a strong start to the second quarter and an optimistic outlook for the rest of the year, we have revised our forecast for this year to 91 million guests, surpassing our previous annual visitor record of 89.1 million in 2018.
"With connections to 256 destinations in 102 countries via 90 international carriers, DXB reinforces Dubai's position as a global business and logistics hub, with India remaining DXB's top destination with 3.1 million arrivals, followed by Saudi Arabia (2 million), the United Kingdom (1.5 million) and Pakistan (1.1 million).

Riyadh with 795,000 guests
Jiddah with 669,000 guests
Mumbai with 637,000 guests
A total of 109,238 flights were operated in the first quarter, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year, with a load factor of 79.1% in the first quarter. DXB handled 26.8 million bags.
